Frequently Asked QuestionsDo These Tanks Go In The Wall Or Outside The Wall Our aquariums mount to the wall, not inside the wall. They come with a simple bracket system that screws to the studs in your wall and the tank sits on the brackets. How Do I Clean The Tank The tanks have a glass lid on top for access and each tank comes with a siphon to remove the water. You do not have to take the tank down, just replace half of your water once every two weeks. All pet shops supply brushes suitable for cleaning your tank. Clean your glass before you remove the water and the algae will be removed with the water. How Often Should I Clean The Tank This depends on many factors. If you mount your aquarium near sunlight or overfeed your fish these may lead to faster algae growth in your fish tank. There are however alot of ways to prevent algae in your tank. There are algae eating fish that do a great job of cleaning your tank, just make sure you check compatability with your existing fish. There are chemicals that slow down algae growth as well as live bacteria that act as natural competition against the algae. Your local pet shop will be able to advise. Are These Aquariums Hard To Fit To The Wall Our tanks are very easy to install. It takes about an hour for two people to install the biggest tank. See our installion instructions for more details. What Comes With My Aquarium All our tanks come with combination pump/filter/airator, light, siphon and net. Fish and ornaments are extra. If you wish to have tropical fish just add an aquarium heater available at any pet store. Do I have To Clean The Filters Yes, about once a month you should clean the filters. Just split the filter in two and rinse the sponge in some aquarium water. This is to protect the good bacteria in the filter. [see cycling your tank] If you have a larger tank with two filters, we suggest to clean one when you do your water change and then two weeks later, clean the other one and keep alternating every two weeks. What Fish Can I Keep In These Tanks Due to the narrow shape of our tanks we recommend small fish such as neons, platys, corys etc. There are many types of fish as well as combinations that your local pet store will can advise you on. How Many Fish Can I Put In A Fish Tank From You This will depend a lot on what type of person you are! Water volume acts as a buffer against buildup of toxic substances. The more water the longer it takes to reach a problem level. If you are a fastidious type that will change the water on time you can get away with having more fish in your tank. If however like most of us, you might forget the odd week then less is best. For small fish such as neons, about one fish to two liters max up to fish like a small goldfish where one fish to ten litres would be suitable. Do I Have To Add Chemicals etc To My Tank There are some additives such as ph buffers and chlorine removers etc that you will need to add to the water at each water change but this will depend on what fish you buy so once again your local pet shop can advice you. Dont be put off though, adding these chemicals is easier than making a cup of coffee!
